The Down Side
Jun 19 2006, 5:54 PM EDT Alright...on first thought, $7.25 sounds nice for people earning minimum wage. However, this could be potentially harmful to the businesses. Take for example, Taco Bell who pays employees minimum wage. Now if they had to tack on an extra dollar to their employees' paychecks, it could hurt the company. One might counter by stating that this increase would be beneficial to the economy because these minimum wage earners would be able to make larger and more frequent purchases. However, with the increase of customers, prices will also incease...therefore inciting inflation. However...this is all speculation and I'm just throwing this out here for thought. There are surely many pluses to raising minimum wage as well. 1 out of 3 found this valuable. Do you? |
