I hope Gore runs in '08
May 10 2006, 12:35 PM EDT
I've voted Republican in every election with the exception of Gore vs. Bush when I voted for Gore. I made that decision at the polling station after hours of research on both candidates via the internet. How did I make that decision? I voted with my conscience. In the last election I voted for Bush reluctantly, it was a vote against Kerry as opposed for Bush. Please run Mr. Gore!!! This country needs you now more than ever. I'm no idealist, but I believe in honesty and integrity and politics is a dirty game. We need you. 17  out of 26 found this valuable. Do you?

What specific policies of Gore make you think he's the right candidate?

Actions speak louder than words. 1) I read that Mr. Gore is involved with an investment firm which maintains a portfolio of environmentally sound and socially conscious companies. Companies are established to generate profits for it's shareholders and investors. I believe in a free market system, competition is healthy. Competition forces us to be more productiove and creative, but we need to do this within the parameters of established laws. Laws keep society in check. Clearly the Bush administration has little respect for the law and the protection of the constitution to which it has been entrusted. 2)Global warming: Never thought about it too much, but now I do. It has become apparent to me as I've aged that we have a responsibility to future generations in many regards. There is the environmental aspect, but to pass on a society that respects itself and others. It seems to me that we have lost sight of this obligation in virtually every area. I sometimes wonder what the condition of our society will be in another 100 years if we continue on the current path of individualism and greed. 3) During my research for the Gore vs. Bush election, I learned that Gore actually kept Clinton in check and maintained Clinton's focus in his second term(hope this is accurate). I respected that.

I did not nor do not respect either Clinton. President Clinton violated our trust with Monica Lewinski. How would like to come home to a husband that cheated and lied to you? Well Clinton did that to this nation in "our bedroom"...the oval office. He disrespected the country and it's people. He was selfish and thought about momentary gratification. This sent a message to the American people, I am only concerned about myself and my own satisfaction. Well we heard him, and if he can lie about this, get away with it, then why shouldn't we do it also? This ultimately leads to caos. We need someone who will tell us I care about what is right and wrong, and show us that he means this. I believe Al Gore does.

Good points. The more information I get about Gore, the more impressed I am. I'm a 40 something moderate Democrat that has always been a big fan of Gore, primarily because of his environmental background. It is unfortunate that Gore has been lumped together with Kerry by many who view them as one in the same. It is also unfortunate that Gore's favorable ratings are so low at this point stemming from the caricature provided by the right wing spin machine and later compounded by the MSM. I do sense that the liberal internet crowd may drive him into the race. He has 3 main issues on his side - Iraq war (which he opposed agressively from the outset), global warming (even the evangelists are taking notice), and the 2000 election results (many, including independents, think he got screwed). Hillary is not the answer. Hopefully average Americans are ready to move on from the "who would you rather have a beer with" question to who do you want to salvage our Democracy.

I hope that Americans can vote without thinking primarily from their wallets/purses, but am not entirely optimistic. We have become a selfish society.

Get over President Clinton's Sex life! Who Cares? He was one of the best president's that this country has had. I would vote for him in a heartbeat if he could run again. People like you and your way of thinking is one of the reason's our country is in the shape it's in now. THINK about what can be done to stop this war and bring our troops home, THINK about our border security, THINK about the rising gas prices. THINK about things that matter. By the way, the oval office is NOT my nor your bedroom. GET OVER IT!!

Guess I hit a nerve. By the way, what single building represents our Democratic rights? I put forth to you that it is the White House. Bill Clinton was a selfish, disrespectful, conceited, adulterated liar!!! I do however respect your position.

Clinton is a Liar. No doubt about it. I sure am glad we have a President now who doesn't lie. He is honest and straight forward...He would never do anything sneaky or underhanded to propel his own agenda. He tells it like it is. He never ever lied...He wouldn't put people in harms way...what?...what's that you say? Oh, nevermind. That's very different.
