Not a republican conspiracy
May 10 2006, 6:21 AM EDT
The uproar over illegal immigration is not a conspiracy, and it's not a single issue. Some of it is inspired by competition at the lowest end of the economic ladder, some of it is law-and-order stuff, and some is border citizens being trampled and bullied. We need more immigration judges, secure documents, and living wages paid. If Dems take a reflex attitude (it's all Karl Rove's fault!) they will lose, and lose big. The majority of the people want the border controlled, and that includes Hispanics. They are not all alike, and do not all have the same interest. 4  out of 4 found this valuable. Do you?

Republican strategy, not conspiracy. The majority of Americans favor allowing immigrants to EARN their citizenship. And the majority of Americans oppose "amnesty." That's why Karl Rove keeps driving the "amnesty" issue, while Democrats and Republicans talk about allowing immigrants to become citizens if they follow legal procedures. The majority of Americans oppose making illegal entry into the country a felony. And, the majority of Americans favor "securing" the border. Do you find this valuable?
