Republican and Democratic parties, and especially their leadership, still do not get it. The petty perks of office claimed by these leaders do not preclude members of Congress from having their offices searched from due process of serving a warrant. Members of Congress are elected and do not warrant special treatment when an overwhelming amount of evidence points to corruption. The Jefferson investigation is a win for the people, DO NOT GET IN THE WAY. Your attitudes are the reason government remains the least trusted piece of society

Democrats need to remember that Florida's former Governor Chiles sued the feds for reimbursement for all the costs generated by illegals. He lost, but this issue has to be included in a 'fair and balanced' approach. The policy should be: don't fine businesses that hire illegals; assess them 'impact fees' (we require developers in Florida to pay their share of road improvements, sewer lines, etc, required by their developments -- employers who hire illegals, underpay them and provide no insurance should pay fees to be used toward their medical care, education of children, etc.) Right now, Florida pays $165 miilion annually toward the cost of illegals medical carfe and $1.5 billion toward education for kindergarten through 12th grade for illegal children and their US born siblings. In addition to assessing employers, if there is a guest worker program, it must be accompanied by another State Legalization Impact Assistance program (President Reagan did this when he won an amnesty for illegals in 1986, but the program ended in 1994. This one should last at least as long as our soldiers are in Iraq.)

Has anybody out there read a book by James Kunstler called The Long Emergency?
It should be required reading for every public official in the country if not the world. Many scenarios in it are far fetched but many have merit and should be addressed before it's too late.

Lenin enslaved a newly-freed Russian people by creating so much havoc and chaos in Russia that it took a very few people to take over the Russian gov and make it communist. Slick-Hitler got the Germans to believe they were being picked on by the rest of the world and thinking the only way to get respect was to support Nazi-ism. Now we have a "religious" political party that says all sorts of good things ("family values", "God-worshipping", etc, etc) but really does exactly the opposite (lies, panders to rich people, lies, rips off the little guys, lies, destroys the environment, lies, and did I mention ... lies) ... yet the repub voters refuse to acknowledge what lying hypocrits the repub party has become. In fact, the repub party does EVERYTHING it's Biblical God says is evil!! ... but the repub voters WON'T get a clue!
How do we wake them up to reality? How can we get through to people who are so terrified of the truth?? I don't know if anything the Democrats say is going to matter diddly squat until people choose to see the truth, mostly the truth about how anti-God their precious God-"worshipping" party really has become. So how do we wake people up?

I think the Democratic Party should be in favor of pulling out of Iraq and should also be pro-immigration. Then there would be a clear difference between Democrats and most Republicans.

If Bill Clinton made a hint of the profits/deals; I am sure George Bush has; (compliments of American's Suffering); via the oil companies...the news coverage/public brow beating would be ceaseless; why doesn't Bush draw so much attention and not only from this issue but countless other acts.....

We are all immigrants. What is the philisophical basis for excluding others from the opportunities offered to our fore fathers.
