"I'm not even a social democrat (but instead adhere to the philosophy of poststructuralism), but there are a few things you should know about social democrats. For instance, a strong emphasis on human rights is incredibly important. I'm not sure what it is about war that might be screaming "human rights" for you, but I'm definitely missing it. Social democracts strongly support civil liberties, which have certainly been diminished if not completely eliminated under the present administration. Social democrats and existing social democracies (i.e., Sweden, Norway--etc Scandanavian countries) are in favor of low unemployment, low inflation, low national debt, and an overall low cost of living, and my favorite part of all--state funded agencies that provide universal health care. How much of this exists now? And i'm not sure if you can read, because I gathered nothing from the initial thread that insinuated a lack of support for our troops. Wouldn't getting the troops out of Iraq (where we have also destroyed civil liberties and violated human rights) be considered supporting the troops? I'm not sure what brand of social democracy you are buying into, but you have certainly been misguided.
