Yesterday, I read that Home Security will doing more intense searching, seizing and investigating
laptops, cellphones and etc at our borders. Do you think our government is going to far in fighting terrorism? Or they on the right track. Jane |

I favor guest worker programs...Amnesty is not a four letter word to me either....This entire new debate about illegal immigration is just another topic to divide us...They have had years to do something with this issue...Why now? Spending millions to build walls...spending millions to send them back...Doesn't make much since to me. Trying to turn this into a National Security issue is laughable to me...

my comment is easy close the borders first then deal with illegals. the democratic party is not much better than republicans. first the dems should try to help the poor middle class. the poor and middle class have been left behind. first fight for min wage increase fight for interest for student loans that were increased fight 20billion tax deduction that was passed to big oil. it is time for the poor middle class the upper middle class to take this country back.

It is amazing because we as conservatives want our border closed we are called racist and told that we hate immigrants. When the truth of the matter is we just want our country secured.

Doesn't it come down to the basic question of ... are we a country where laws *matter*? Or are laws, all laws, optional in America?
Demonstrations by NON-Americans against ... America ... threats of boycotts, threats of helping more illegals enter America ... these are the actions of terrorists and last I heard, no one in their right mind negotiates w/ terrorists. Finally, if stupid Bush hadn't *wasted* so much $$$$$$ in Iraq, we'd have had plenty of people and $$$$$$ to take back our country from those who have invaded US. Instead, now he's trying to get us to pretend that all these invaders (a very large percentage of which are gang members and other criminals) aren't so bad. I'm tired of the lies, I'm tired of seeing SO many jobs going to people who will work for peanuts (and, in the process, are driving *down* the wages offered by other employers because they can now get away with paying legitimate workers much *less* ... Build the walls, add some juice, get our troops home and guarding our soil from invaders who do *not* have America's best interests at heart!! I want a fair wage again!! No more Mexican gangs in my town!! No more wondering which immigrant is here legally and which is not!! I want my country back!

We do not have to spend a lot to deport illegals. Just fine and jail employers of illegals and the reason illegals are here will go away they will self deport back home. No welfare or medicare benefits either.

I am for LEGAL immigration and against Illegal immigration. Illegal immigration costs all of us and the government needs to stop protecting those who are breaking USA laws.

There is not enough uproar about illegal immigration and the profound effect it has and will have on this nation and its' people. I have lived with worked with and shared by country with many legal american's. I am opposed to 11 million - probably twice that if not more - being welcomed into America. The people of this nation had better wake up! We are being sold out lock stock and barrel. This is not the United States of Mexico, and our people deserve better and at very least we deserve the truth and the negative facts too - not just this is good for America. Both of our parties have been asleep since 9/11 and still are. The law serves its' purpose if observed and enforced, something our government can't seem to do. It is high time we find new leader's who love, respect and wish to secure and protect this great land. Out people give their lives in Iraq while our so-called leaders, allow million and millions of illegal aliens into this country. This makes no sense, has no logic and defies the common good. Wake up America!

We have voted Democtatic and contributed to the Democtatic Party in the past. This election we are supporting (money and volunteer work) to the Party and Candidates that fight FOR BORDER SECURITY ,PUNISHING COMPANIES THAT EMPLOYEE ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS AND FIGHT FOR THE U S CITIZENS. We owe this to our children, grandchildren and our neighbors that are being forced to compete with illegal immigrants for jobs, education, and health care. Many of these illegal immigrants are involved in criminal acts. Many drive without a license and Insurance. They are involved in above average number of accidents and a higher than average number of Hit and Run accidents, resulting in higher insurance costs to those who have insurance. Then there is the fact that they enter the US without medical exams and bring the potential to spread disease. Just to mention a few facts relating to this issue. There are many good hard working illegal immigrants and each one of their cases should be considered by itself, not lumpted together with the other 12,000,000 illegal immigrant cases. With about 3,000,000 illegal immigrants a year entering the US from Mexico how can anyone say that none of them are terrorists? (Its been over 1650 days since "Sept. 11" and still our borders are not secure) Our military has secured borders of other countries in a matter of days. We should ask our politicians why our borders are not secure. Please ask them.

The uproar over illegal immigration is not a conspiracy, and it's not a single issue. Some of it is inspired by competition at the lowest end of the economic ladder, some of it is law-and-order stuff, and some is border citizens being trampled and bullied. We need more immigration judges, secure documents, and living wages paid. If Dems take a reflex attitude (it's all Karl Rove's fault!) they will lose, and lose big. The majority of the people want the border controlled, and that includes Hispanics. They are not all alike, and do not all have the same interest.

The real issue isn't an issue of immigration at all, the real issue is liveable wage. As long as our "free trade" partners have wages that entrench poverty, people will be willing to risk their lives, break the law, and do whatever is neccesary to make a living. As a country we need to stand up for a liveable wage for EVERY job in America, as human beings we need to fight for a liveable wage for every person who is willing to work.
